Class Syllabus


Course Description:

In 8th grade ELA, students are immersed into a world of reading, writing, speaking/listening and research. In our Into Literature units, we explore different modes of writing and reading workshops. We will also be engaged with different ways to show our learning throughout the year!

Essential Understandings/Critical Content:

We will be practicing and honing our skills for the three major modes of writing: narrative, informational, and argument. We will be reading multiple types of genres to gain our best understanding of how ideas are communicated through books. Our students will progress through 4 units of study that weave in reading, writing, speaking/listening, and research.

Social Studies 8 (Period 2, 4, and 5)

Class Syllabus
In United States History class, students will be exploring the ideas, issues, people, and events from the Founding Mothers and Fathers to the end of the Civil War and Reconstruction. This will enable students to examine the evolution of our society, culture, politics and the economy of the United States today. The four key disciplines of Social Studies (History, Civics, Economics, and Geography) will be incorporated into this process to deepen the conceptual understanding for students in this class.
